COVID Protocol as of 8/10/2021

We continue to ease restrictions based on facility, local, state, and federal guidance, including CDC guidelines.  At this time, the overall HRCA mask policy is that fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear masks at any of our clubs, programs, or events.  Partially or non-vaccinated individuals are strongly encouraged to continue wearing a mask.  This is an honor system. HRCA will not be checking vaccination cards. HRCA is no longer sanitizing equipment between rounds or restricting individuals from bringing personal equipment.  We will continue to have sanitizing wipes and spray on hand for members who wish to sanitize their equipment before or after use.  We will no longer be asking screening questions or conducting temperature checks.  Members are strongly encouraged to respect the health of fellow members by staying home if they feel sick or believe you have been exposed to COVID.  Please note that this policy differs slightly from our scholastic clubs and events, which require masks regardless of vaccination status.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this transition. HRCA will continue to offer virtual options in the fall for members who are uncomfortable playing in person.

Our club is open to players of all ages and skill levels.  We have casual chess, USCF rated tournament chess, and occasional other activities.

Click to follow the club on Facebook.

We meet on Tuesdays from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm. Registration is from 7:00 to 7:30.  Note that children from HRSCC may still be on site until 7:15.  Most tournaments start at 7:30

The club is free to attend for casual play; however, after a limited number of visits, regular players will be required to join HRCA, which is just $10/year. The tournaments have low entry fees, and many have prizes. Almost all our tournaments require USCF membership.  HRCA is happy to process your membership for you, as we receive a commission.

The club has many sets, boards, and clocks. It is not necessary to bring your own equipment unless you prefer your personal set and clock.

We also have an on-line club at  Go to our   HRCC on-line play  page to learn about the club and how to play.
